On Cloudeclipse is a max cushion neutral running shoe. I was excited to try these shoes as standing in them they were very soft and compressible; I couldn’t wait to see how this would translate to running.

The specs:

Weight: 240g (Womens US 7), 285g (Mens US 9)
Stack height: 37mm (heel), 31mm (forefoot)
Heel to toe drop: 6mm

Fit:
I found that the On Cloudeclipse fitted true to my usual size. The toe box shape was standard for a traditional running shoe and not as wide as the Cloudmonster 2. The upper is really light and comfortable, and did not cause any rubbing or irritation during my runs. The shoe also locked down quite well on the foot, meaning there was no slippage during running.

Feel:
The midsole on the On Cloudeclipse is very fascinating. When standing in the shoe, the midsole feels very plush and compressible, but during running, the design and construction stiffens up at the rearfoot and then reduces as you make your way towards the toes during your stride. The way that On Running has done this makes for a really nice ride with a moderate responsive feel. Because of the moderate stiffening at the rearfoot, it creates quite a stable feeling underfoot which is a nice experience when making foot contact.

What did the Cloudeclipse feel like to run in?

The Cloudeclipse doesn’t have an aggressive rocker at the forefoot and as such has a less propulsive feeling through toe off. You’re not going to feel like you’re being thrown forward or propelled forward like you do in the Cloudmonster 2.
However, for me I really liked that the rocker wasn’t present as the cushioning and stability of the shoe made the transition through toe off feel amazing and I didn’t really miss the rocker feeling that is present in the Cloudmonster 2.
Similar to the Cloudmonster the Cloudeclipse felt easy to run in.

As I moved up and down through different paces, the shoes responded well and the cushioning and responsiveness was great. I also found them comfortable on both flats, inclines and declines.

Who would benefit from the On Cloudeclipse?

If you like a shoe that feels a bit firmer underfoot but still allows for some cushioning as you move through your running, the Cloudeclipse would be a great addition to your rotation.

The feeling of effortlessness that these shoes provide would make them a nice shoe to add in out your easy or moderate days to make the training feel less tiresome and may make the runs a bit more enjoyable after some of your hard sessions.
