LEX Barefoot shoes are a local Australian kids footwear company, looking to inject some colour into the childrens minimalist shoe market. We tested out their new OG range, and share our thoughts below.

LEX Barefoot OG Ruby Red
Our 3 year old daughter chose the Ruby Red OG shoe to test out, and has been wearing them almost daily since she got them, including wearing them during her 2km fun run event at the Sunshine Coast marathon.
These shoes are super easy for kids to put on themselves, with a Velcro attachment that keeps the shoe firm on the foot with no slippage.
The shoe has a lovely wide toe box, plenty of room for the developing foot, and has a thin and flexible sole – all of the features we love to see and recommend in a kids shoe.
An added bonus is that the shoes are really easy to wipe clean, keeping that colour nice and vibrant.

When assessing barefoot shoes, we like to utilise The Foot Collective’s
5F criteria, to assess each aspect of the shoe and its suitability to allow the foot to move naturally.
FOOT SHAPED: Yes! The shoe has a lovely wide toe box, allowing plenty of wiggle room for the foot to naturally maintain its shape.
FLAT: Yes. This new and improved design has ensured that the shoe is zero drop.
FLEXIBLE: The shoe is easy to flex and fold over on itself, indicating that the shoe will move with the foot as kids move around.
FEEL (the ground beneath you): The sole of the LEX Barefoot shoes are thin, but not as thin as some other barefoot shoe brands out there.
FIXED: The shoe is a closed in model, and the Velcro attachment makes sure the shoe stays firmly on the foot with no slippage.
Final thoughts
We are super happy with the new release of the OG range from LEX Barefoot. These are a pair of shoes that kids will love wearing due to the amazing colours, and the ease of putting them on themselves. The company have delivered a great quality product that will be a regular amongst our childrens shoe rotation.
